Below you will find some external links that offer additional information regarding extended services that you may find interesting.  This is certainly not an extensive list; but it may offer some useful guidelines for our stakeholders and partners.

Every Child Matters Programme of Change for Children and Young People Logo The every Child Matters web site explains the background, aims and outcomes of extended services and contains useful information regarding setting up a multi-agency service.

Information regarding the core offer of services the Government would like all schools to offer access to (in partnership with LAs and local providers) by 2010.

Information on extended schools funding allocations

£680 million is available for the start of extended services between 2006 to 2008 (£160 million was allocated in 2005).

One of the UK's leading community learning organisations offers useful information & advice, conferences, resources and tailor-made consultancy services to schools.

From children’s centres to extended schools, childcare to play provision, parenting support, out of school clubs, holiday programmes and children’s projects and support for young people – 4Children have an extensive list of resources to support extended schools.

Information about Hampshire - jobs, schools, health, social care, heritage and the environment.  Contains a very useful online library of practitioners' documents and lots of information about extended services and grant funding for schools and community partners.

The Directory of Children's Services for Hampshire.  Hantsfish holds a large database of local information for children, young people, parents and carers, and for the practitioners who work with them.

National Childminding Association (NCMA) - Useful information about how to find a childminder and how to become a childminder for signposting parents.  The Quality Assured Childminding Network is available at: http://www.ncmaccf.org.uk/

Early Education and Childcare Unit

Early Education and Childcare Services for Hampshire - information for both parents about finding childcare and lots more for childcare providers.  Includes publications, training, useful contacts in Hampshire and jobs for childcare practitioners.

Logo for Pre-School Learning Alliance

The Pre-school Learning Alliance is a leading educational charity specialising in the early years.  A jam-packed site for practitioners and parents.

Link to the Young Carers Initiative in Hampshire.  The Children's Society National Young Carers Initiative is part of the Include Project. It provides information, advice and training to anyone who works with young carers and their families.  It receives funding from the Department of Children, Schools and Families and the Department of Health. It is also funded by Hampshire County Council to deliver development work across Hampshire.  This site has links to support networks, training, resources and also includes posters to display on school notice-boards to signpost help and support for young carers.

Kids Working for disabled children, young people and their families

Kids South East was established in 1990 and supports families living in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.  Kids offers parents and children a unique mix of fun, learning, friendship & support.  Based at Delta House, Salterns Lane, Fareham, Kids offers various activities, childcare, toddler groups, holiday clubs, family clubs and a valuable support group for young carers.  See the Fareham Community Action webpage at Kids for local contact details or click the logo above to go directly to the Kids the main site.

Gosport & Fareham Home-Start.  Home-Start's offers informal and friendly support for families with young children who are under stress or feeling isolated.  Find local contact details for our Fareham & Gosport Coordinator and lots more information about the organisation at the Home-Start National Site.

Fareham & Gosport Family Aid is a voluntary group who currently manage the Fareham & Gosport Women's refuge. We offer safe & secure accommodation to women & their children fleeing domestic violence. This short term accommodation allows women the opportunity to consider their options and make plans for the future. We also offer advice and support to women in times of crisis, in their homes and in drop-in centre when they cannot, or do not wish to come into refuge.  A weekly support group for women is also available at Oak Meadow Children's Centre.

FASS - Fareham Autistic Spectrum Support Group website and local contact details.  FASS is a support group for families in the Fareham area who have a child or children on the autistic spectrum.  FASS organises trips and outings, provides a forum for mutual support and offers advice and information on activities that are happening in the local area.

A personal favourite.  From Baby Disco to Cheeky Monkeys Photographs  - this bright and cheerful website is a useful source of information for finding activities to do with 'little people'.

IdeasForTheKids.co.uk - the UK's most comprehensive free online source of places to go and things to do with kids.  Use the search boxes to find child friendly days out, ideas, venues and attractions.  A fabulous resource for signposting to parents during those endless summer holidays!
